Dr. Peter Barnett

 

Dr. Peter Barnett is a clinical psychologist registered with the College of Psychologists of Ontario. He completed his PhD in Psychology at Western University in 1990. He finished his clinical training at a residency program in New York City approved by both The American Psychological Association and the American Psychiatric Association.

 

Dr. Barnett began his career working half-time at the London Health Sciences Center and half-time in private practice. He developed a stress management program for hospital patients and was part of the multidisciplinary team that designed the Cardiac Rehabilitation Program now offered at LHSC. Dr. Barnett has published original research in the areas of depression, chronic pain, and cardiovascular health.

 

Now in full-time private practice, Dr. Barnett offers psychotherapy primarily from psychodynamic and mindfulness based cognitive behavioral approaches. He sees individuals, couples and families. He is particularly interested in helping people to understand themselves better so they can change old patterns of thinking and relating that lead to unhappiness and distress.
